Imagine how a child who is black would feel after hearing that they should not say the pledge and become disenfranchised from THEIR community and THEIR country. I wonder how that conversation would go. Would that parent feel that they are helping their child to live an empowered, prosocial life? When they don't feel a sense of connection, is that parent going to blame others? Parents - community members, who want to remain powerless,helpless and hopeless will not thank a veteran for their sacrifice. Rather they will feel victimized that the veteran did not sacrifice enough. The redemption for you and I is knowing that we feel empowered, connected and will remain grateful for the sacrifices of those who served for my and my children's freedom.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
