How to Paint Your World Yellow
How to Paint Your World Yellow Plan, Plant, Play! Plan: Picture a garden. Let the flow of colors move with the seasons! Continue Reading for Gardening Tips Spring seems to inspire the love of yellow… stronger and longer sunshine. New leaf green definitely has the yellow tone. Hallelujah for the emergence of tulip and daffodil bulbs and then forsythia. Plant: Place daffodil bulbs in clumps, not spread out individually. They grow and love the friendship of kissing cousin bulbs… They will pop though your garden turf and each year bring on new family members. Trim bushes after flowers have faded. The goal is to get the bush compact and not…

The ‘busy-ness’ of Spring
Ah… Spring. A perfect adjective would be refreshing. We get out of the house. We start the garden. We clean off the deck. We pull out our soccer cleats, baseball gloves and running shorts. We pump up our bike tires, clean out our cars and hose off the outdoor dump trucks, bubble wands and kiddie pools. We open windows, smell the flowers, take long hikes. We start to fill the family calendar with all sorts of events. As military families we also might be looking at orders. We clean out our closets, get rid of the ‘extras’, plan for the future. We make last ditch moments to see the town we called home…

Summer 2012 Bucket List
Summer Vacation is soon upon us. A time of year I LOVE! The lack of routine is so refreshing but amazingly enough becomes a little old after only a few weeks (and depending on the moment, sometimes only after a few days). So this summer my boys and I have created a ‘Bucket List’. Things we all want to do in the course of our lazy-days of summer. Somethings are things I want to do as a family. Some things are dreams. Others are already being planned. This is our list of plans, ideas and joys for the summer: Ride our Bike to Tasty Freeze Have a backyard game of kickball Catch fireflies…

Resolutions for the New Year
It is snowing outside the window… 33 degrees wet heavy snow. It is sticking and beautiful and white against the dark tree limbs. I love the look. I love the feel of it all. New Year’s Eve is right at the door step. 2012 is almost tangible. Time to think of improvements, self, household, work and community. Resolving to put energy, time and resources toward good. I have a list! Children in the neighborhood need smiles, someone to look them in the eye and listen to their excitement. My avenue is Wednesday nights: Pioneer Club. This new year the resolve will be to get them to bring more friends, get…

Garden Beauty That Came Too Early to the Grounds
There are flowers in your life that pop up, vibrant, unexpected and spread life from the center to the tips of the pedals. And thenThere are flowers that just should not appear early. Even though these flowers are yellow, perky, definitely unexpected but rob life from stem to stamen. Broccoli, you are just too early!byDeborahonMonday, July 25, 2011Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to PinterestMilitary Life:Deborah,Flowers,Garden

Looking Back
I have a full checklist of things that need to get done this morning but as I was doing a bit of research I ran across an old blog-post that took me back: Holding up the Fort. I wrote this two years ago right after Hubs returned to Iraq from R&R. You can go ahead and read it I’ll wait right here… 🙂... Isn’t it fun to look back? Relive? Revisit? The kindergartener in “Holding up the Fort” is now a 2nd grader. My preschooler from a few years ago is enjoying his own Dr Seuss week with his kindergarten class! This morning he proudly got on the bus with…
