Military-Grade iPad case – Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines

    March 20, 2014 /

A cracked screen, sand in the casing, or jostled  insides in an iPad can render it useless.  As military members and military families we can be hard on our technology.  (Take a good look at my own case on my phone and you have proof positive.)  Whether using our iPads, tablets or phones on the job or packed in our goods for entertainment they need strong protection from the bumps, tumbles, drops and poundings of life. Looking for a good recommendation?  You have come to the right place!  I am very impressed with Trident’s Military-Grade iPad case.  It is rugged, and it shows our pride in the service.   It meets…

Active Living in the US Navy Even Has an IPhone App! DoD Blogger Roundtable

    May 8, 2013 /

“They have an IPhone App for their program…” Spring seems to be a great time to get started on new workout plans, healthier eating, gardens and more! May is even designated as physical fitness and sports month so it was great timing for the DoD Blogger Roundtable to discuss the US Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling System and some new and better ways to help stay healthy! As a long time advocate for a healthy lifestyle I was very interested in the topic but wanted to make sure that it would be interesting for our followers. Diana Strock, Physical Fitness and Injury Prevention Program Manager said they had “resounding feedback”…

    Summer Camp

    June 27, 2012 /

I had NO IDEA it would be this hard to let go. This past Sunday Hubs and I dropped *E*, 9 years old, off at his first week-long, without his Mom, Summer Camp.  EGADS!  (That’s me biting at my nails, my belly doing flip-flops everytime I think about what he might be doing at that very moment.) *E* was a little nervous on the way there, a three hour drive from home.  But he popped in his favorite DVD and multi-tasked with a game on the iPad for the 200 miles we were on the road.  It was a great attention diverter. When we got there the camp was ALIVE with youth.  Youth workers…

Screen Time and Summer Time – Finding Balance

    June 1, 2012 /

I am not an educator by degree but I am a mom by nature and I love to watch my boys flourish!  But as a mom I grow concerned watching how much my 9 year old (in particular) /LOVES/ electronics.  He could easily sit on my iPad, his DS, our computer for hours at a time playing games.  I want him outside playing, splashing, running, laughing, kicking, riding, smiling, living.  Making memories! I also have certain thoughts on summer-brain freeze as well as learning responsibility around the house.  To keep our brains working we use Evan-Moor books titled ‘Daily Summer Activities‘.  We used these workbooks last year for the first time and I highly…

    Summer 2012 Bucket List

    May 18, 2012 /

Summer Vacation is soon upon us.  A time of year I LOVE!  The lack of routine is so refreshing but amazingly enough becomes a little old after only a few weeks (and depending on the moment, sometimes only after a few days). So this summer my boys and I have created a ‘Bucket List’.  Things we all want to do in the course of our lazy-days of summer.  Somethings are things I want to do as a family.  Some things are dreams.  Others are already being planned.  This is our list of plans, ideas and joys for the summer: Ride our Bike to Tasty Freeze Have a backyard game of kickball Catch fireflies…

I’m a Winner! Thanks to UbiRock

    May 6, 2012 /

Isn’t it fun when you are notified that “You are a winner!”?  I have to admit it doesn’t happen often.  The first time I ever won something it was a windbreaker from a pet store – eons ago.  The next thing I remember winning was a baby carrier (backpack style) from Babies R Us soon after my now 9 year old was born.  We still have that backpack and it has been used for my other sons as well as my nieces and nephews.  It is like the gift that keeps on giving! Just last week I got that ‘You are a winner’ announcement once again.  Three days later in the…

    Touch Pad Touches Home

    June 22, 2011 /

Here we are yet in Nashville.  Fun city for so many.  A tourist attraction.  Land of hospitality, southern drawl, sweet tea and genuine warmth.  We are here because our Daniel is working on his breathing.  Working on getting that heart rate down.  Doing Olympic type feats like getting out of the bed, marching down the hall, dragging a pole, pumps, tank all while sporting a back flapping cotton gown.  Always the edgy one in the family. The rest of the family are in their homes in Ohio, New York, Michigan, Illinois, Connecticut and Florida yet they are in contact continuously.  Facebook, iPad, iPhone, instant messages: touch pads.  We are letting the…

    The Rubber Band Effect

    February 20, 2011 /

This isn’t going to be one of those feel good , I know what I’m doing, all is well, posts. After all I haven’t had a stretch of more than three hours of sleep in oh … many many moons. Baby Boy *L*, 6 months old, as cuddly as they come. I am trying desperately to establish an earlier bed time routine. We have been nursing from 8:30pm till 11pm – Yes, for that long – in the comfort of my bed, my legs stretched out with a good book in my hands or my iPad at my side. By 11pm I’m exhausted. If I try to put him in…

USAA’s iPad Application – Be informed!

    January 28, 2011 /

When we are informed we make better decisions. That is what USAA’s iPad application is all about! I have had the privilege of previewing their banking app for the iPad and I have to say I am mighty impressed. It just suits me. It is clean. It is organized. It makes me feel like I am in control. That is important when it comes to finances! I love the look of the Insurance Policy pages. Like a small library of policies. Pick a book. Open it up. Before you lies everything you need to know about your auto insurance policy, or your home-policy, or your life insurance. All at your fingertips,…
