A Wounded Warrior Helping Others
Last week I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Brian Neuman, SSG US Army retired, who is a wounded warrior helping other wounded warriors! I plan to tell you about Brian in a couple of blogs. I will talk about a wonderful Wounded Warrior program at USAA and Brian’s personal story as well. Brian’s story is exhilirating because of what he is doing for others who face similar injuries and major changes in their lifestyle. Does a Better Burger have to be Bigger?
Company is coming… short notice. Time to dig into the freezer and see what the storehouse holds. Yeah for ground chuck, ground round, 93% lean beef – Hamburgers! Folks are hungry… it’s raining/snowing/ugly outside. Therefore, the grill outside is out of the question. Pull out the large frying pan and with 2 T. of olive oil, saute 2 onions sliced thin. As they cook down and soften, pat the burgers into thin patties. I know, a larger burger is the norm for the grill, but the fry pan will perfect this thinner beef burgers. Anadama Batter Bread
I love bread. It is a downfall, a reward, a wake up, a comfort food, an aroma that absolutely overwhelms anything else that is going on in the kitchen. There are times when kneading bread is therapeutic, and times when there just is no time! No time? Bring on the yeast raised cornbread: Anadama Batter Bread. 3/4 c. boiling water1/2 c yellow cornmeal3 T shortening1/4 c molasses2 t salt1 package active dry yeast1/4 c warm water (110 to 115) degrees1 egg2 1/3 c flour Stir together first 5 ingredients.
