America Does Support Our Troops!
I am a Vietnam era Veteran and an Afghanistan era veteran and everything in between as well! I remember the 60s and 70s and I so appreciate how America is now recognizing and supporting our men and women and their families! We see thousands of small businesses on MilitaryAvenue with a military discount and a sense of pride and patriotism among our citizens when talking about veterans. Access to schools during Veterans Day and other events, neighbors helping military families and appreciation for the sacrifices they and their families are making. A ground swell is growing and we are seeing it amongst corporations as well.
Corporate America is participating in military family support programs too! Several nation wide chains have military discounts year round! Sears has their Christmas program, Veteran’s Day specials and now they are doing an outreach for military families by hosting a first-ever live Military Twitter Event on Tuesday, March 1 at 2:00 pm (CST). The focus of the event is Military Family: Reintegration. The moderator for the event is Christina Dibble, the Program Manager for Military Talent Acquisition at Sears.
Part the tweet chat is a free giveaway (to a random chat participant) of a $250 gift card from Sears. The hashtag is #militarychat hosted by @MySears! For more information on this event go to http://www.mysears.com/mysears_blog/Live-Twitter-Chat—talking-about-Military-Reintegration/
Did you realize that Sears is a super military supporter and employer? Ranked nationally for their veteran employment programs and atmosphere (including great support for the Guard and Reserves). Questions? Ask Christina during the #militarychat!
