I had the pleasure of meeting the Purvis family in GrandRapids, Michigan last week, as a part of The Home Depot Celebration of Service 2012.  The Home Depot provided them (that we delivered) with decorations, a corner Christmas tree, and an opportunity to meet a wonderful family.  Throughout my time with the family we shared plenty of laughs and a few serious and emotional topics.     Christmas Traditions Decorating at Home and at Church

    As the leftover Thanksgiving turkey is down to turkey salad, Christmas decorations are hauled from the closets.  Boxes, cartons and plastic bins hold memories, treasures and herald the coming holiday.  The last plastic bin was rifled through hoping to reveal perky Christmas towels.  There on the bottom, as if an afterthought was a sheet of typed, well copied paper from Keflavik Naval Air Station’s PWOC about Christmas tree history.  A paper reminder of good times, great ladies, strong values: military spouses of all services and NATO nations.     Halloween on a Budget

    Autumn has begun and with that come thoughts of beautiful shades of leaves, pumpkins, apple picking and more.  Many families begin to decorate their home with the season’s decor.  It is so much fun to walk the aisles of our local Target or eXchange to see the latest Halloween decorations; lighted jack-o’-lanterns,  black cats, funny graveyard markers, skeleton-bones and zombies everywhere.  It is fun to look at but a family on a budget needs to do more looking then putting in their cart!
