We are Strangers Within Kansas City’s Gates.
It is a long drive from Michigan to Kansas City, MO. A good drive, but a long one. We are going to have the fun of representing MilitaryAvenue.com at the PAIR Day on Fort Leavenworth this weekend. We have not been here before, so in that way we are strangers. New installations are so interesting to visit.The idea of being a stranger brought a smile, and a very good feeling as we walked into our room at the Hilton Embassy Suite room we reserved. What a week!
It is finally Friday and I am utterly exhausted! I had one of those weeks that I would prefer to just let go down the bathtub drain after a long soak … Yet through it all I can be so very thankful for support, for friendship, for prayer, for understanding. Some of it stems from earlier troubles. I have felt that my six-year-old is still not adjusting to this deployment very well. (Deployment Troubles of a 5 year-old) I berate myself for being an ineffective mom and then tell myself to quit being so hard on myself – all in one breath. Freedoms on this Memorial Day
It is Memorial Day! I got up at the “crack of dawn”… (ok, it was 7:30am but I am a night owl) so that I could get breakfast going, get the troops dressed, and head down to the local Memorial Day parade which started at 9am. The boys brought their bags to grab the candy. I brought my camera to grab the photos. It hasn’t been a very well attended parade in the past (or today for that matter) but those of us that are there are excited to be there.
