Don’t watch your words, use them wisely!
We came back from a great vacation. Our bags were overstuffed, our ‘fun limit’ was about maxed out. Our spirits were high but the line to customs was ahead. It is interesting how emotions can take roller coaster rides in break neck speed. Rifling through my bags to find passport and declaration paper I approached the customs officer waiting at the desk. His first words were, “Welcome Home!” WOW!Wide eyed I looked at him and said a heart felt thank you! He meant it. I meant it. Then, after seeing my Military ID, he thanked me for my service! “I’m the spouse.” I said. He said he recognized that and…

National Support Services for Military Spouses: Short List
Do you feel like you are ‘out there’ alone? Think that no one knows the craziness that is going on in your life? Do not rest on those thoughts. Take action and seek information. Take it on as if you were taking on a new project. The military ‘name’ every endeavor that they set out to bring into action. Name it! My mother-in-law had dropped him off that morning as she, my father-in-law and our 14 year old headed home. The 5 year-old, 3-year old and I had enough PBS for the morning and were about ready to start pulling our hair out. We had walked the halls of this late 1950s hotel. We had strolled outside to the closed-pool that was in much need of maintenance. We had lingered in the lobby with the cool ‘frog fountain’ that I was rather unimpressed…

A New Way to Connect
I haven’t contributed to the “Letters to You” blog before today, but I’m excited to do so! I joined the MilitaryAvenue team in early 2008 and it has been fun to jump into a new and exciting project. If you are reading this blog, you are probably familiar enough with the Internet to have at least heard of Facebook. It has gained some popularity and success over the past couple of years – roughly 65 million users with an average of 250,000 new users signing up each day! That’s exciting for the people at Facebook, but what did it mean for us at MilitaryAvenue? In mid 2007, Facebook created the…
