Express Scripts and Tricare on Twitter and other social media
Yikes, a week of a much needed medication on hand and the refill is disapproved by Express Scripts/Tricare! What next? We have been a beneficiary of the military medical system for almost 43 years and have found it to be caring, responsive and helpful in most cases but last week we ran into an illogical response to a refill request for a non-formulary medication. I did find a new way to reach out when we needed help quicker than “you can appeal, provide documentation and fill out the paperwork”, etc, etc when you have a week’s worth of medication left. Our family doctor had tried to explain but received…

An Introduction: “Do You Have a Frog in your Pocket?”
Last week we published a blog in our Marketing to Military resource and the business owner was so military friendly we thought that we should share it today in our Military Family blog as well. It is a smooth read but what she says about the military community says a lot about her business. We like what she said about us too! So, read and enjoy! PS: If you know a military family owned, veteran owned or military friendly business share the blog with them too! “Do You Have a Frog in your Pocket?” Something caught my eye, increased the focus, sped up the senses a bit, made me look…

Military-Grade iPad case – Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines
A cracked screen, sand in the casing, or jostled insides in an iPad can render it useless. As military members and military families we can be hard on our technology. (Take a good look at my own case on my phone and you have proof positive.) Whether using our iPads, tablets or phones on the job or packed in our goods for entertainment they need strong protection from the bumps, tumbles, drops and poundings of life. Looking for a good recommendation? You have come to the right place! I am very impressed with Trident’s Military-Grade iPad case. It is rugged, and it shows our pride in the service. It meets…

Are You Making the Right Choices for Alcohol Use?
See Below for Photo CreditDecisions! We make them every day – active duty, reserves, guard members, retirees, military family members – all of us are faced with small or critical decisions every day of our lives. Sometimes, they are almost routine; like, what shoes do I wear today? Well, that might be a bigger decision for some than others. Sometimes a decision leaves us with a ‘I wish I had done it differently” or “What if” or a WTH (I prefer “heck”) moment or maybe, “Wow, I made the right choice”. Alcohol (for everyone over 21) can be a big decision. If you have not reached your 21st birthday, you…

“Welcome to Stagecoach”
A quick introduction to our MilitaryAvenue guest blogger. Mike Liguori is a Marine veteran and we are excited to share his coverage for MilitaryAvenue of Stagecoach. He is doing tweets, Facebook posts and blogs for us during this fun event! Be sure to follow along on some great stories about the performers and military supporters at “Stagecoach”. Today was quite the day for me. I barely have been able to sleep due to the overwhelming excitement of covering the Stagecoach Country Music Festival. You think after not getting the consistency of a good night’s sleep I would be dead tired today. Well folks, you are wrong. I am actually…

Military Deployment: Waiting for Dad to Come Home
Books! You find a good one and you jump into it, lost in another world. A good book can teach you sympathy, empathy, show you that you are not alone or that the world is much bigger than you. Sometimes it is nice to know it’s not just you… and when a military child is missing his or her Mom or Dad a good book about other children coping with separation can be just what they need! I had the pleasure of reading a new book by author Kristin Ayyar. She is an Air Force wife, mom, author and so much more. The title is Countdown ‘Til Daddy Comes Home and shows how…

Some Tools to Help You Be Fit for Spring!
Time to get outside! For many Americans including our military community, winter means indoor workouts, hiding from the cold weather, snow, rain, storms and more. A good challenge is always helpful for individuals to be ready for the next season. While winter storms pounded much of the country some parts of the country are far ahead with spring time flowers and warmer weather. Spring brings outdoor activity and I found some interesting ways to stay active during winter this year! Yes, I know it is almost spring but I think these were good enough to tell you about so next winter you can be outside and be fit and ready…

The Path to Investing
Military Saves week is coming! From February 25 through March 2 there will be a concentrated effort to get our military families on the road to Financial Readiness, a subject matter near and dear to my heart. To get you thinking about this important week we have a guest blogger, Amy, Army spouse who shares some great thoughts about getting started on investing. Thank you, Amy, for helping to empower our military families through sharing your thoughts: “It’s important that both you and your spouse understand the investments that you have chosen”. I stared at this sentence, and felt like a hypocrite. I had shared a financial book with a friend who…
