Awkward! Junior High Time to Step Forward

    February 21, 2013 /

Junior High School… a wonderfully awkward time of life! Who are these kids?        Adults… no.        Little kids… no. On any given day they act like either one… or give an hour and they are flipping the switches and are both. This was the first time in my life that I moved: changed school districts, changed me! Tonight in our Junior High Youth Group we are going to be talking about a timeline. Gaging where they were, where they are going and perhaps…

Military Friends – A Puzzle for Our Civilian Counterparts

    December 4, 2012 /

Military friends! Sometimes our military lifestyle is a puzzle to our civilian friends and the rest of the nation. We come together from all over the country (and in some cases the world), of all races, ethnic backgrounds, economic and educational levels, different goals and lifestyles and so much more diversity that most Americans ever have the opportunity to experience.  I have to admit that this is our (my military spouse, mil brats…

Youth Sports are Important for Parents too!

    June 27, 2012 /

“As parents, we often think of youth sports as organized events. I think the more important ones, may be the unorganized variety.” Summer time is here and it is, as usual, crazy busy! Throw in a PCS or deployment for you and it is just gets worse. Finding time for all the unit events, saying good bye a million times (or at least a few) to good friends or acquaintances, making friends at your new location, finding time for a vacation, finding a new spouse job – yep, the head starts to spin a bit! But what about the smaller people version? They go through a lot as military brats…

    MilitaryAvenue & Supporting the Youth

    September 24, 2009 /

Military families … They deal with frequest moves, and in turn getting to know new communities. They also can deal with deployments or days away on missions that they (as family members) can’t know details about. It isn’t easy for a military family. Not only are they missing their solder, airman, marine, coastie or sailor, but they are also worried about them. Military Family Support. It is a necessity. There are many ways the military families can find the support they need. They search for outreach programs, ways to connect. They need them. They can find it on base at their local Family Support Center or through their Youth Center.…
